If f(x) = 3x – 1 and g(x) = x^2 – 2x – 2, what is f(g(x)) ? Can someone help me with this please?

OpenStudy (mandre):

x for F(x) = g(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the only part I actually understand

hero (hero):

f(g(x)) = 3(x^2 - 2x - 2) - 1 Simplify that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do we distribute the -1 on the right side to 3x^2-6x-6?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

No, why would you?

OpenStudy (mandre):

F(x) must stay the same except for the x which will be replace by g(x) as shown by Hero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was just making sure

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

You just combine like terms and simplify. You can't distribute that -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x^2-6x-7

Thanks everyone!
