Use the grouping method to factor the polynomial. 6x^7+48x^5+36x^4 HELP?! I'm confused.. I've never learned this..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the greatest common factor of 6, 48 and 36?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. So we can take out a 6 from the 3 terms. How many x's can we take out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmmm, not sure can I take out all??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one term has 7 x's one term has 5 x's one term has 4 x's So the maximum we can take out...remember we have to take the same amount out of all of the terms.. is 4 x's Take out 6x^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x^4(x^3 + 8x + 6) Foil that out to check if you like, and you should get the original problem.

Oh okay, Thanks!!
