I have the answer to this math problem but I need to show my work and don't know how: What is the slope of a line perpendicular to 2x-3y=8 Please help!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you know the formula y=mx+c, and then know the fact that a line that is perpendicular to another line has a slope that when multiplied with the other you get -1. Try rearrangwe the formula and then you should be able to work out the slope from then on :)

Alright I tried it out and am seriously confused. The answer is supposed to be -3/2 because I have a paper telling me that.. Summer assignment so they give you answers expecting you to show work and I don't get it

Someone please help me. I am desperately in need of someone smart right now!!!!! If someone could just explain how to find the slope of a line perpendicular to 2x-3y=8 I would consider being their best friend. Please help!!!!

Sorry yeah so you rearrange your equation to satisfy y=mx+b ->-3y=-2x+8 but you want a single y so you take the 3 across and divide everything on the right side by 3 (because when you put it on the other side it changes signs) ->y=-2x+8/3 then you can separate them in to -2x/3 + 8/3
