what is the question provided ?

here the detail: You must create a lesson that teaches another student how to solve the following inequality: –x + 3 > 7. Your main mission for this activity is to provide a detailed answer to the question below. Why must you flip the inequality symbol when you divide by a negative number? You know that if the symbol is not flipped you will end up with a false statement, but why is that so? Research and brainstorm (with your partner if you chose to do this collaboratively) to come up with this answer. Remember, you are teaching this to another student, so you must include detailed explanations, visuals, and at least two additional examples. You may submit your lesson in a word document, power point presentation, use audio/video tools, etc. Your lesson –– including a detailed explanation to the question provided along with at least 2 examples. You solve an inequality much like you solve an equation. However, there is one important rule that you must follow with inequalities, and that rule is : when dividing/multiplying by a negative number, you have to change the inequality sign. The reason this is: for example, on a number line, 3 to 7 is an increase, but -3 to -7 is a decrease. The inequality sign changes because you are switching the signs of the values in the inequality. -x + 3 > 7 (subtract 3 from both sides) -x + 3 - 3 > 7 - 3 combine like terms -x > 4 (multiply by -1) inequality sign will change x < 4 If we did not switch the inequality sign, it would read: -x + 3 > 7 -x > 4 and we all know this is incorrect because a negative is not greater then a positive. Look at it from the context of a number line, all the inequality sign is doing is defining how numbers are ordered. -3__-2__-1__0__1__2__3 3 is to the right of 2, so 3>2 -2 is to the right of -3, so -2>-3 When a negative sign is in front of a number, it is reversing how we normally order that number so we need to reverse the inequality to make the ordering correct. Example : -2x < 10 (divide by -2 to get x by itself) Change the sign x > 10/-2 x > -5 any number greater then 5 will take the place of the x and make the inequality true. for example, sub in 2 for x -2(2) < 10 -4 < 10 (true) now what if we subbed in -6 -2(-6) < 10 12 < 10 (not true) Another example is multiplying by a negative... -x + 4 < 6 -x < 6 - 4 -x < 2 (we want x positive so we multiply by -1) Changing the sign x > -2 anything greater then -2 will make this inequality true.
