Can someone please help me with this question? Do the points the coordinate pairs two comma eight, eight comma eight, eight comma zero, and two comma zero represent the vertices of a square or a rectangle? Explain.
why not plot them and find out?
? who disappears?
sometimes openstudy site goes bonkers, and they connection becomes slacky and I'ves seen a few users getting borked in the downtime
how would I plot them?
on your side of the connection, all you see is that the site isn't coming up but isn't your connection, so much as openstudy's site, they still have a few latency issues
Can you see my responses?
x y ( 2, 8 ) ( 8, 8 ) ...
yes I do, the points are given in the exercises with the understanding you've already covered this material, so you're expected to know what an ordered pair is
you should find the slope for each two points and see if all the lines are perpendicular to each other..
I understand what an ordered pair is. What I don't understand is how to solve the problem.
well, if you plot them on the cartesian plane, you'd see if they make a rectangle or a square
when they say "represent the vertices" they really just mean "represent the CORNERS"
okay that's right, you can do it geometrically by graphing, but how about doing it algebraicaly ?
how would you solve it that way?
are you supposed to use slopes to check if it's a square or a rectangle?
if not, then you may just be doing something that doesn't apply to the exercise
I think yes that's the only way to check if wether you have a right angles or not
Idk but I think Ahmad1 is correct
the only other possible way I am thinking about is to find the distances between the points such that each opposite sides have the same length, but it's possible to get this thing sorry I do not know what is it called |dw:1376088142205:dw|
ohhh ok. Now I understand! Thanks everyone your help! :)
you are welcome :)
