Hello! I need some help with being able to find the Lateral Area of a Triangular Prism (it looks to be a right-triangular prism) If I screenshot the question, can someone walk me through the process step-by-step please?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

I can try.

Thank you!! I've been stuck on this for a while, and I just can't seem to figure it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There's six slots that I have to fill

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

There are 5 faces. There are two congruent triangular bases, and 3 different rectangular faces. The lateral are is made up of the three rectangular faces.

How would I set the first step up? Would it look something like this?: L.A.= (8+4+6) x 2 = 36

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The triangular bases are right triangles with legs of 4 ft and 6 ft. You need to find the third, side, the hypotenuse. You can use the Pythagorean theorem for that. The lateral area is (x + 6 ft + 4 ft) x 8 ft, but we need x, the length of the hypotenuse of the base.
