Find the y-intercept of the line with gradient -3 that is tangential to the parabola y=2x-5x+1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's not a parabola... do you mean \(y=2x^2-5x+1\) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh yes, sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. At what point is the gradient \(y'\) of the parabola equal to -3? Give that \(y=2x^2-5x+1\), what is \(y'\) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it say tangential to the parabola \[y=2x^{2}-5x+1\] so idk .-.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is a calculus problem, right? If it is, you should have no problem figuring out \(y'\) (the derivative of y).
