by using a calculator?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if you do not have a calculator, you can use google as one type "sqrt(59)" into google without quotes to get this https://www.google.com/search?q=sqrt%2859%29&ie=UTF-8 make sure you round to the nearest hundredth

noo you cant use a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is there any other way to round that to the nearest hundredth?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

well here's a page that explains how to do it without a calculator http://www.murderousmaths.co.uk/books/sqroot.htm

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you look at the hundredths place, then you look at the digit to the right of the hundredths place if that digit is 5 or more, then you chop off everything after the hundredths digit and add 0.01 to the number if that digit is less than 5, then you chop off everything after the hundredths digit

Thank You
