Well, an abs value sign makes any number inside it positive. If you add up a whole bunch of positive numbers, will it ever equal zero? The only way it can be, is if all the numbers are 0. (0+0+0 = 0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so what if it is? than its true.. but if its not, then its not.. so is it false?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Notice the keywords "not necessarily zero" If it said "the sum of absolute values is zero" it would be false.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh? so what is it asking??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would the answer be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true?

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Yes, because it can be something other than zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. thanks!

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

No prob. It's the wording of the question that makes it a little confusing to answer :)
