A baker makes bread and sells them at county fairs. Her initial cost for the parish fair was $40. She figures that each bread costs $2.50 to make, and charges $6.50 per bread. let x represent the number of bread sold. (Assume that there were no cakes left over.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it asking for the revenue? or the total cost?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the revenue meaning find x i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this the type of equation where the total cost = the revenue?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its looking for profit which is revenue - cost

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if that's the case, then Cost is 2.5 x + 40 Revenue is 6.5 x So what is 6.5 x - (2.5 x + 40)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x + 40 = 0? so x =10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x - 40

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually im not too sure if it's looking for profit or something else. The question is not too clear or it's missing something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, cause i'm looking at the book and im not sure bout what it is asking either :/

OpenStudy (mandre):

If your initial cost is $40 and each bread costs $2.50 to make then that would give you 40 / 2.5 = 16 breads, right? Which makes the rest irrelevant. That's what I think, anyway.

OpenStudy (mandre):

x = 16 only if you sell all the breads.
