"I had to go" "I have to go" which of the above is grammatically correct ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hye, the two are correct but in the different tenses : "i have to go" is grammatically correct in the simple present tense and "i had to go" is grammatically correct in the past tense. the two are conjugations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Both are correct as @simplon explained how.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but generally "have/has" is used in present prefect. present perfect is used to represent "immediate past actions" . But "i have to go" is dealing with future. im confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I had to go is past tense and i have to go is present tense

@M_Vamshi_Kumar_Reddy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am going is present tense. but "i have to go" is dealing with future. like i have to go tomarrow etc.

@Ryaan

OpenStudy (anonymous):

both are, it just depends on which tense (past or present) you are using

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you say "i am going" when you are starting to go but "i have to go" is used for saying that you want to go at the same time but waiting for an approbation, you can also use "i have to go" for the future

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i use "i had to go" ? @simplon

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for saying that you had a program to go before this time (now)
