factor: see below>>>>>

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{2}-2x-6\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(x+7)(x-9)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did anyone get that??

OpenStudy (jack1):

no, 7*-9 does not equal -6

OpenStudy (jack1):

what are the factors of 6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 and 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 doesn't go into 63??

OpenStudy (jack1):

this equation doesn't factor neatly, you end up using imaginary numbers if you want 2 brackets closest is [x (x-2)] - 6

OpenStudy (jack1):

where did u get 63...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

63 is in the problem..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my... I'm sorry.... I typed it wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{2}-2x-63\]

OpenStudy (jack1):

k, then your initial equation is right

OpenStudy (jack1):

x+7] [x-9]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thank you. sorry about that

OpenStudy (jack1):

hall good ;D
