We are given the radius/AE/EB as 8yd!
And we know that the angle including the sector is 90'
Thus the area of the QUADRANT is? pi*r*r/4
Just put the values in the equation and then solve it! :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol the problem is idk how to do that :p
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
What is the area of a circle? pi*r*r right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Now what is the degree of a circle = 360 right? [FROM THE CENTRE]
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
And a degree of a quadrant is 90' RIGHT?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
right.
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Thus the area of the sector which has 90' included should be one-fourth of the area of the circle right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
correct

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Let's say the angle included was 30'
The formula would be pi * r * r * theta/360! [theta is the angle included in the sector]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so i should replace 120 and 30 in place of r?
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
R is the RADIUS
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
theta is the angle inbetween AE AND EB!!! :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i knew that lol

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
AREA OF A SECTOR = ARE OF CIRCLE * THETA/360 [Where theta is the angle included between the 2 radii]
And in your case the angle is 90' :D
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Just substitute and You'll get the answer!!! :)
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Did you get it?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no.......... -___-
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
See you figure tells us to find the area of a sector right?

yes sector AEB
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Exactly now if I gave you a PIZZA *WOHOO*
Which only has 4 slices!
Then wouldn't each slices' area be 1/4th of the entire pizza?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol yea
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i want pizza now thanks..
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Then same in this case AEB is just like the slice and ITS area is 1/4th of the whole circle!

Haha... So the answer will be pi * z * z * a!!! :P
No it is pi * r * r * 1/4 :)
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
where r has a value of 8 yards!
Get it? :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
noo.....
jk yeah i get it (:
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but check my answer plz
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
How much is your answer?

my calculator tells me that its 50.26????????
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
It should be 50.26 yd^2 then okay?
Enjoy and
Kudos the response :)
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Good job! :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its wrong though
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its not one of my options

Then the question you asked me has to be wrong!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no its correct
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
See what the question asks!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
What is the area of sector AEB when AE = 8 yd?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
thats the question

maybe i should sqrt it?
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Why? That is not logical AT ALL!
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Try to get the concept!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i know so what should i do?
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Is 150.28 any one of your answers?

these are my options.
4π yd2
16π yd2
8π yd2
2π yd2
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
And 16pi is 50.26 :PPP
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
So it is B :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol ooohhh youre right thanks!
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Good luck buddy and TRY TO GET THE CONCEPT!
