singular and plural subject pronouns Address Sra. Cólon Address Sr. y Sra. Pérez Address your friend Marco
Let me give you a list of all the Spanish pronouns, and their English translations. I'll also explain how to use them. ----------- (Yo) - ( I ) Obviously, since "yo" means "I," we use it when we're talking about ourselves. ------------ (Tú) - (You) This is the INFORMAL way of saying "you." It is also SINGULAR. We use this when we're talking to one other person who we know really well, like our friends, our siblings, or our mom/dad. ------------- (Él) - (He) We use this when we're talking about another person who is a male. ------------- (Ella) - (She) We use this when we're talking about another person who is a female. -------------- (Usted) - (You) "Usted" is the FORMAL way of saying "you." It is also SINGULAR. But it's used differently from "tu." We use the word "usted" when we're talking to one other person who we don't know very well, like a teacher or an adult stranger. ---------------- (Nosotros) - (We) We use this word when we're talking about ourselves, along with a group of people. ---------------- (Ellos) - (They) This is a MASCULINE pronoun. We use it when we're talking about a group of people, where there is at least one male. -------------- (Ellas) - (They) This also means "they," but it's a FEMININE pronoun. We use this pronoun when we're talking about a group of girls. ---------------- (Ustedes) - (You) This word also means "you." It is PLURAL. We use this word when we're talking to more than one person, at once. Like if I were talking to all of the students in my entire classroom, I would say "ustedes." It kind of means "you all."
