In scientifific notation, (2.6 x 10 'to the power of 4') x (4.5x10 'to the power of two') equals ?

uhm anyone..? c:

OpenStudy (joemc):

To multiply two numbers written in scientific notation (without a calculator) you do the following: First, you multiply the two mantissas (AKA significands). So, you would need to multiply 2.6 x 4.5 Then you add the two exponents and that is the exponent of the product. So: (the product of 2.6 x 4.5) x 10^(4+2)

You could also use Google as a calculator in a pinch: Enter 2.6e04 x 4.5e02 = into the search box. But, it will probably give the result in standard form (which you can then convert to scientific notation yourself).
