Since your calculator only knows log10 you have to change it to log10
OpenStudy (anonymous):
It becomes\[\frac{ \log_{10} 625 }{\log_{10} 5 }\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but isn't there a special way to do those ones?
terenzreignz (terenzreignz):
It is when you remember that \[\Large 625 = 5^4\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
You get the same answer by know what terenz said and by working it out. Short cuts like that are nice though:)

\[\log_{b} M=x\] same as:
\[b ^{x} = M\]
Therefore as Teren said:
\[\log_{5}625 = x \] means
\[5^{x}=625\] x being 4. can even check
(5)(5)(5)(5)= 625 ^_^
terenzreignz (terenzreignz):
OMFG "Teren" again... it's so incomplete, it drives me crazy.. it's TERENCE!!!
XD
Just messin' around... ^yeah, that's the gist of it :3
OpenStudy (psymon):
Well what would you prefer to be called? @terenzreignz xD

Alright then, haha. I'm sure I'll forget and have to ask again :D
terenzreignz (terenzreignz):
Terence Jason... nice ring to it.
And anyway, yeah, what this \[\Large \log_b x\]actually means in English is
"What exponent you need to raise b to so that you get x"
So this \[\Large \log_5625\] means "what exponent you need to raise 5 to so that you get 625" and that's exactly 4.
OpenStudy (psymon):
Lol, in English.
terenzreignz (terenzreignz):
I do try.
OpenStudy (psymon):
Because in math dialect it means *headgoboom* I'm sure o.o

If it's all weird boxy and scary looking characters, it's Chinese...
If it has those circle thingies and stuff that kinda look like characters but look somehow simpler, it's Korean.
And if it's a mix of scary looking characters and simple looking squiggle marks, it's Japanese.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
nice definitions!
OpenStudy (psymon):
Yeah, chinese is all complex, korean is circles, Japanese is some complex, somesimple.
