How do I write this without an exponent? \[(-9^{1})^{-2} \]

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Write it like this.. -9^1x-2 -9^-2 So it becomes inverse of that because the power is negative. So it'll become 1/9^2 or 1/81

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But -2 is a power.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Okay first -9^1 is -9 right? Got that?? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yaa

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Okay so after we got that we have -9^-2 right? Let me explain that to you with an example.. Let us say we have (ab)^-3 It can also be written as: 1/(ab)^3 Did you get that?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Whenevr a power is negative integer then the term inverses. That is a rule. :)
