when determining what kind of name to give a function(polynomial, binomial etc) do you have to put the problem in order of largest exponent first. For example *(3x + 4/3x^3 -7) would be (4/3x^3 +3x +4)?

You can name a polynomial by number of terms and also by its degree. Degree has to do with the largest exponent. You can look at: *(3x + 4/3x^3 -7) and count the number of terms without putting the terms in any type of different order. I see three terms so the polynomial is a trinomial. If you are naming the polynomial by its degree, it is helpful to write it as you suggested in your post. But, it is not required unless stated so by the instructions for the problem. @chowbelly
