@Jamierox4ev3r your PM
Can't PM you back due to fanmail only option you have on.... Yes, I am dyslexic. The avitar is my fun little way of seeing if anyone notices the message. You are the second to do so!
oh cool :D lol sorry i have that setting here so random people i do not know cannot harass me or anything lol thanks for communicating with me regardless :) @e.mccormick
I can understand that. I get random messages at times... some are a bit annoying.
lol my bad though @e.mccormick , perhaps I should fan you... XD
Up to you. Hehe. As long as you don't mind being a fan of a dyslexic which an avatar that promotes world conquest. Hehe.
haha nope :P I'm not dyslexic but my cousin is, so I sympathize for those with dyslexia. Sooo world conquest, eh? I believe you are fully capable. :D
Well, I have studied the standard material... such as the Evil Overlord's List. http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html Dyslexia is unfortunately misunderstood. The language based reading issues are just part of it, and they go from mild to strong. Mine are mild, but I do reverse letters at times. What is worse is my left/right confusion, that made it impossible for me to learn typing even with years of trying. I also have short term memory issues. On the other hand, I have an assortment of abilities that have constantly amazed people. I connect very diverse topics and come up with new answers. I also help with the admin on this site: http://dyslexicadvantage.com/ Just minor stuff. But if you or your cousin wants to see some different points of view on it, they are there. I also put lots of messages on studying and college up there. Hehe.
haha nice thanks for all this useful info. @e.mccormick , I will keep this in mind... and I think everyone (especially myself) suffers from a horrific short-term memory. However, ask me the same question in a month or more, and I will remember. I find it quite odd....
That is the consolidation thing, and distraction can cause a dump of short term memory to make room for new information. Separate processes. My problem is in how much I can take in at one time. Lots of new info and I literally overload and shut down. I was taking Linear Algebra right before a Calculus class and I had to drop the Calc because by that time I simply could not understand the professor. If you want to know more about how to help consolidation and long term stuff, I suggest "Memory Power 101" by W.R. Klemm. He has the right credentials and based his book on research and not random claims about memory. He has edited psychology and neuroscience journals, so he is very familiar with the best brain science out there.
Wow... this actually sounds like something I would be incredibly interested in ( I know , I'm a nerd), thanks so much for mentioning it :D I want to be a neurosurgeon when I grow up, so this is pretty cool, its somewhat related.
Oh and thanks for taking the time to talk to an insignificant person like me lol :P
Ah, if you are of that bent, then try: http://brainsciencepodcast.com/ Dr. Campbell is an ER doc, but she always loved neuroscience. She read a lot on it, and decided to start sharing things about what she had learned. Because she is a medical doctor, she knows the underlying terminology. She began to find things that bridged the gap between the average person and these strong sciences and started reviewing these things. Then Dr. Campbell got in touch with the authors of these materials and started doing interviews as well! Lots and lots of interesting stuff! As for "insignificant" people, hehe. I have had a few teens become surprised that I would not only challenge their ideas, but also ask them to support them! If they have a firm belief, fine. But why? Which leads to a real conversation.... which many teens have missed out on. We are all individuals and the teen years is when we really develop a lot of our uniqueness. If nobody ask us and challenges us and complements us and recognizes us for what we are, how will we truly develop in those years? What uniqueness will we develop if we never realize our opinions and the reasons behind them? So I treat each person as a human being, even children, teens, and so on because it is something we all deserve and need.
