Please answer this simple question!! true or false? https://media.glynlyon.com/g_geo_2012/11/test26.gif i think its true! or is it..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is

OpenStudy (ttop0816):

thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By cross-multiplying, you'll get 5a = 2b for both equations.

OpenStudy (ttop0816):

yes i got it now (:

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Do not "cross-multiply". That is far too much effort for this problem and is generally annoying, anyway. If two non-zero numbers are equal, so are their reciprocals. Done!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I agree with you, tkhunny; however, cross-multiplying is one of the simplest ways to prove this answer correct.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

"cross-multiplying" is simple. I'll give you that. It is also misleading and grossly misunderstood. Personally, I think the term should be removed from all text books. But that's just me. Not everyone agrees. There is no need to prove the answer correct. They are reciprocals. It is already proven.
