Please help me. Question is in comments

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (phi):

what does \[ y≥ -3\ 1/3 \] mean? can you say in words what it means ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That y is greater than or equal to negative three and one-thirds? @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

yes. Y is greater than or equal to -3 1/3 now if Y is greater than or equal to -3 1/3 then what is the *smallest* number Y can be ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-1? @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

For the moment, think of this problem Y is bigger than or equal to 1 what is the smallest Y could be and still be bigger than or equal to 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm assuming it would be 1?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, if you are told Y is 1 or bigger, the smallest Y can be is 1 your problem is the same thing if Y is -3 1/3 or bigger, the smallest Y can be is -3 1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, okay I understand now.

OpenStudy (phi):

so is -3 1/3 the least value of Y or the biggest value of Y ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The least value

OpenStudy (phi):

Yes
