Which is the distance between the point with the coordinates (1, 2) and the line with the equation 2x-3y=-2?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Distance = Perpendicular yeah? :D

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Yes?? :D

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Okay as you aren't replying let me just tell you directly! After you get the slope of the line! Form a line equation with the point given and the SLOPE derived [By teh point-slope equation of a line] You'd get the equation of the perpendicular line! After that solve the 2 lines for 1 solution [one given line and the LINE dervied] After you get that point [which is the point on the line given] calculate the distance between the point given and the POINT derived. That IS the perpendicular distance between the 2 points or the distance between the point and the line! :D Did you understand? :)

im sorry i had to get off the computer but yes i get everything you told me. it makes sense! :)
