Put the x value in the first equation!
And then solve! :D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
,Where did you get the X value?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Do I solve
4x+3y=-5?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So to solve for that I would subsitute 3 for 0
4x=-5
-5/4=-1.25?
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
In the second equation :)
The x value is ALREADY given to you in TERMS of y!
So put it in the first equation as
4(y-3) + 3y = -5!
Expand the brackets and find the y value here! :D

So that gives me
4y-12+3y=-5
OpenStudy (anonymous):
errr
4x-12+3y=-5
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
So 7y = 7
And y = 1
right? :D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Wait how did you get the 7?
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
Add 12 to both sides! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok so adding 12 to both sides gives me
4x+3y=7
OpenStudy (anonymous):
adding 4 &3 gives me 7y
7y=7
y=1
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
JoStudy Best Response Medals 0
So that gives me
4y-12+3y=-5
YOU WROTE THIS RIGHT!! :D
OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):
YES!! :D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Gotcha! Thanks!

Okay so now!
AFTER GETTING THE y VALUE
Put it in the second equation [MORE CONVENIENT TAN FIRST]
And get the x value! :D
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So I use y=1 in one of the original equations
x=1-3
1-3
x=-2
