OpenStudy (littlenugget):

Would this be right @amistre64?

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

Sorry i have just one more question

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

So for the next problem it says use words to describe the interval of real numbers: (-4, infinity)

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

Would it be -4 is less than x less than infinity?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

x is a real number such that ... x is _____ then -4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

explaining it in words is not the same as stating the interval ... :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

infinity is a direction to move towards, not a value that can be addressed

OpenStudy (amistre64):

to say that x is a real number such that x is greater than -4 amount to the same thing as the interval notation defines

OpenStudy (amistre64):

to say x is less then infinity means the same thing as saying: x is less them blue

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

ohh lol that makes sense xD so it would be x is real number such that x is greater than -4?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

ohh ok :) if the "infinity" was an 8 instead, how would you say it?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

...is great than -4, AND x is less then 8

OpenStudy (littlenugget):

so after that you would put the and?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep, it is set notation talk ... when we "and" to sets together we are creating a new set of the elements that they have in common. |dw:1376946800251:dw|
