how do I find area of a square if I know the perimeter ?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

If it's a square, then all sides are equal length so the length of one side s=P/4 where P is perimeter. Once you have the side length s, then the area is just \[s ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the perimeter is 196 will 14 be the area ? @DebbieG

OpenStudy (debbieg):

No, how did you get that? If P=196, then side length is 1/4 of that:\[s=\frac{ P }{ 4 }=\frac{ 196 }{ 4 }=49\] From side length you should be able to get area.
