Can some help me with this please!!!!!! Consider the functions f(x) = 2(x − 5) and g(x) = 3x. What is the value of (f − g)(2)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fill in 2 for x then subtract the answer you get from f by the answer you get from g.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i would get 2x-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait no 2x-10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, everywhere you so x replace the x with 2, then retry the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-10 idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lanct1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try f=2(2-5) for the first part, for the next part try g=3(2) then do f-g. Do you see what I did there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yah would the answer be -12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@lanct1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Give me a second to do the work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes you are correct. The answer is -12.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

No problem I just learned all that yesterday and know the best way to prove you learned it is by teaching it so that's what I am doing.
