How do i learn reactions of organic and inorganic chemistry?? I understand things but am not good at learning things by heart. I am in class 12.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

I'm guessing you haven't encountered arrow-pushing?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the only way to remember them better is to understand what's going on.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

There's too many reactions to memorize, so don't even bother. just have to know based on their properties, explain using pKa. Charge, resonance, etc

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Here is a good site that you can use to learn some of the types of reaction(s) you will learn in Organic Chemistry: http://www.monomerchem.com/display4.html I would say that you learn about 45% of those throughout your whole organic chemistry year. There might be a few more, maybe 65% but they don't often say the name of the reaction, but most of those reactions you do cover in either your year of organic chemistry OR you learn about 90% of them in advance organic chemistry (upper division) OR some upper division organic mechanisms course because some of them do get complex. And these do not show detailed mechanisms.
