@e.cociuba

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Which do you think it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@LauraWest

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Lets look at c: one less than the product 3 and a number n one less than {something} means {something}-1 The product of 3 and a number n means 3n So one less than the product 3 and a number n means: 3n-1

OpenStudy (debbieg):

So do you want to try again?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Lets look at a: three times the difference of a number n and 1 The difference of a number n and 1 is n-1 Three times {something} is 3{something} So three times the difference of a number n and 1 is....... 3(n-1) Get it? :)

B and C aren't the right answers because b is talking about quotients which is dividing and you don't have that. C is talking about products, which is multiplying, and something you also don't have. So we're left with A and D. D is wrong because it says: three more than the difference of a number n and 1, which translates into (n-1) + 3 not 3(n-1).. That means your answer is A, three times the difference of a number n and 1 3 x (n minus 1) = 3(n-1) A Hope that helps!

OpenStudy (debbieg):
