At a track meet, 50 people ran the 100-meter dash. 2 people finished in 11 seconds, 5 people finished in 12 seconds, 8 people finished in 13 seconds, 10 people finished in 14 seconds, 21 people finished in 15 seconds, 2 people finished in 16 seconds, and 2 people finished in 17 seconds. What is the probability distribution for the finish times?
I know i can to id buy putting it in my TI but im kinda confused.
Well....each finish time has its own probability. Probability is (success/possibilities). So for our first time of 11 seconds. We have 50 runners, so 50 possibilities. We have 2 "successes" for 11 seconds, therefore thatprobability is 2/50. Just do the same thing with each finish result.
So... Thats it?
Just do it for all the finish times, yes. Assuming Im interpretting the question correctly, yeah.
Its geometry bud...
How is this geometry? O.o
@Directrix Can you help?
I dont know man, thats what i am trying to figure out!
Its a statistics question xD
but it was in my geometry lesson...
Dunno how. But this is a typical stats question.
Weird...
Geometric Probability Distributions
I see. Its just called that, it doesnt really have anything to do with what we think of in geometry. Just looked it up, lol.
