-a^2+2b+1/4a^2 Simplify by combining like terms. Umm how?

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Is it this: \[-a^2+2b+\frac{1}{4}a^2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The 2b is to the power of two.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I forgot that part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You want to take the two numbers that have like variables next to them and combine them.

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Well either way, when you combine like terms it means you add/subtract numbers that have similar bases

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did. And I guess I did something wrong cuz I keep getting a huge fraction
