OpenStudy (littlebird):

Find the measure of the angle tan^-1(-2.3) in radians and degrees.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Once you obtain degrees use the gen. formula to convert degrees to radians.

OpenStudy (littlebird):

What formula or method do I use to find degrees?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Can you use a calculator?

OpenStudy (littlebird):

I could, but if there is a way to do it without one, I'd like to know.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Idk, sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is only a calculator exercise you are not going to get the answer without one

OpenStudy (littlebird):

Ok, just making sure. My teacher is strict about showing your work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let x=arctan(-2.3) tan(x)=-2.3 tan(x)=-2.3 thus tan(x)+2.3=0 now you can approximate the number using newton's method, but I have some doubts about find an accurate answer....

OpenStudy (littlebird):

I probably don't have to do that, but thanks anyway. :) I've never learned about newtons method.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't worry, it was just a suggestion in case you did ;)
