I have two questions actually... how do you find the coordinates of the foci of an ellipse? and... how would you factor this? x^4+x^3-8x^2+6x+36
the first question depends on what you know an equation for example?
(x-3)^2/64 + (y+5)^2/100 = 1
ok we can do that the answer to your second question is \[(x+2) (x+3) (x^2-4 x+6)\] but i cheated how you do this by hand is anyone's guess, maybe find the zeros and then factor them out
thank you for being honest. I just needed the answer so thanks. but what do i do about the foci?
ok we can do that first you need to know what the center is, which is really right in front of your eyes do you know the center?
yes.(3,-5)
ok and the second thing you need to know is, does it look like the one on the left, or the one on the right? |dw:1377224440227:dw|
if you don't know it let me know and i will tell you
