OpenStudy (lilsis76):

What is a radical, I blanked out today. And I can use some help with this problem please. t^2 = -3t +4

OpenStudy (lilsis76):

I FORGOT TO ADD THIS!!! This is to solve a quadratic equation. state if there is no real roots. what are the real roots? does that mean state if there is no answer?

OpenStudy (psymon):

basically the root sign is a radical. And for this problem you first need to move the -3t and the + 4 to the other side of the equal sign and then yeah, factor. And real as in possible by normal mathematical standards. For example: \[\sqrt{-1}\] wouldn't be what you would call real, since you cannot square root a negative number.

OpenStudy (psymon):

Like this would be an example of a problem with no "real" solutions: \[x ^{2}+4 = 0\] \[x ^{2}=-4\] \[x=\pm \sqrt{-4} \] This would give an imaginary solution, not a real one :3

OpenStudy (lilsis76):

haha okay I see it @Psymon

OpenStudy (lilsis76):

okay so my problem is this then

OpenStudy (lilsis76):

|dw:1377234428388:dw| So I have no real solution, right?
