please help!!!!!!! when opening doors for new construction, the following variables are specified. which of these variables is quantative? (2 points) a) purpose of door: interior or exterior b) width of door opening in inches c) core of door: solid core or hollow core d) color of door: white, oak, stain, natural, or ivory

OpenStudy (debbieg):

A quantitative variable is one that keeps track of a "measurable quantity". E.g., if I'm keeping track of weather conditions, and I let x= either sunny, cloudy, or rainy, that is NOT quantitative (its qualitative). But if I let x=# inches of rain, then THAT is quantitative, since it is "measured with numbers", so to speak.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

So with that in mind, which do you think is the answer above?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

width of doo opening?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

door

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Right. :) That is the only one of the 4 that can be "quantified" - measured numerically in a meaningful way. :)

OpenStudy (debbieg):

The other 3 are all "categorical" - you can label the categories, but not quantify them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you do you think you can help me with some more please?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

I'm sorry, probably not now because I have to leave my house soon. But I'm sure there are others around who will help. :)

OpenStudy (debbieg):

I have to go to the dentist... believe me I'd rather stay here and talk math with you, lol. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ok well thanks anyway :)
