OpenStudy (littlebird):

The whole reason the articles of confederation was a failure as a form of government was because it gave the states too much power and the government too little. The constitution was later written so that the country have all sides have power without taking over. At this point in American history, people were deathly afraid of having another king or dictator

OpenStudy (littlebird):

That shows how early Americans valued equality

OpenStudy (zale101):

Good Answer @Littlebird

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Another good point for equality is in the origin of the "No taxation without representation," rally cry. In British law, a citizen of the Empire could only be lawfully taxed if he (and yes, they used gender) was in a part of the Empire that had a member in Parliament. The American Colonies were suddenly being taxed with all sorts of new taxes, less than the ones in England, but without any representation. This made things an unequal status because the law of the Empire was basically being said to not apply to the American Colonies. Therefore, the goal of equality was one of the major points on the agenda. The double standard that tipped the whole thing over was when British American Colonists were outlawed from moving west, but a law was past to allow French Canadian Colonists to move into those western areas. So the British government was favoring foreigners more than they favored the British Colonists in America. Again, equality with other citizens was a major issue here. Being seen as having less rights than a foreigner was a slap in the face.

ismat coocoobird, something tells me that you did not read anything about the question you're supposed to answer and is only relying on what the people here have to say… Let us assume that I am mistaken, because I'd hate to be correct about this.
