A child sells lemonade and cookies.Ten customers buy both lemonade and cookies.Fifteen customers buy lemonade.Five customers buy cookies only. There are a total of 20 customers. How many customers only but lemonade?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is kinda contradicting itself; I mean looking at the total number of customers givenand the sum total of the numbers of customers classified according to the goods bought, we realize there's a slight difference.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

15 customers buy lemonade includes those that buy only lemonade and those that buy cookies and lemonade(10). Just substract those that buy cookies and lemonade:15-10=5 Then: Only Lemonade = 5, only cookies=5, cookies+lemonade=10, total=20

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it but still it misleads.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is because the problem is giving additional information that is not really needed like the total.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sometimes these problems are intentionally misleading to make life a little more complicated. You have to pay attention to the statement: "only" is the key word here

Evil. Illuminati stuff.
