Show the expanded form and simplification of x to the 6th power over x to the second power. Explain in your own words how you can simplify x to the 6th power over x to the second power without having to write the expanded form. Its: x ^6 ____ x^2

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Easy, just write them out: \[\frac{x*x*x*x*x*x}{x*x}\] Now cancel them out :) Also division of a fraction is the same as subtracting.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or subtract the exponent in the denominator from the exponent in the numerator probably quicker

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

*division of exponents
