divide by \(f\)
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
You want to get the x alone right? So you have to get the f on the other side. The opposite of multiplication is division so you can divide the f on both sides to solve for x.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you mean like x=f/w?
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
@Lasandra , well the w doesnt move.
w = f x
-- ---
f f
w = x
--
f
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
Does that make sense?

yes thanks a lot i have some more if you don't mind helping me.
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
@Lasandra , keep writing here
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay
OpenStudy (anonymous):
g=f/x

OpenStudy (jackellyn):
which variable are you solving for?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
x @jackellyn
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
f
g= ---
x
Let's move the x by multiplying it by both sides
xg = f
How can we get rid of the g?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
we could probably multiply both sides by g?
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
Well, g is already being multiplied by x so we need to do the opposite to move it to the other side. So we need to divide g on both sides.

okay well yeah we could i came up with x=f/g
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
exactly!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yay :) ok next one is d=ax^2/2 (the^ means it the 2nd power)
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
for x?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes for x

what do we need to move first?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i think the a?
OpenStudy (jackellyn):
You can't move the a until you move the 2 so multiply both sides by 2. Then divide by a on both sides, what is your answer?
