I have a feeling that it's B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i Don't do that good

@michellemater np

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i were to answer it wold be b too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 @Nurali what do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@dmezzullo @ivettef365

OpenStudy (debbieg):

No, it's not b. Subtracting 3x from both sides is fine there, that combines all the x terms to one side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then it would be adding the 2? Because since it's the same equation and they did it right with 3x for combining the terms

OpenStudy (debbieg):

No, adding the 2 on both sides is ok. See, one is moving the x terms to the right side and the constants to the left; the other is moving the x terms to the left and the constants to the right. Either is fine, just different approaches but both mathematically sound. There is, however, a different step that someone did that is NOT mathematically sound. :) Keep looking!

When aaron subtracted the 8 because he got -8

OpenStudy (debbieg):

YOu mean when Aaron subtracted 6?? (When aaron subtracted 8 is not one of the options). That is the error, but it isn't because he got -8. On that side, he had -2-6 which is, indeed =-8 Why is it wrong that he subtracted 6?
