The projected sales volume of a video game cartridge is given by the function s(p) = 3000/ 2p + a s is the number of cartridges sold, in thousands; p is the price per cartridge, in dollars; and a is a constant. If according to the projections, 100000 cartridges are sold at 10 dollars per cartridge, how many cartridges will be sold at 20 dollars per cartridge? Please help and show the work, the answer is 60,000 but i do not understand how.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

so i believe you need to solve for a first

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

s($10)=100000

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

so s($20)=200000

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

y(x)=s(p) p is the independent variable while s is the dependent variable.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

do you understand so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean by independent and dependent.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

So basically the amount of cartridges sold will earn you revenue.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

difficult to explain over the site... hold on here let me try to solve this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

hold on i can figure this out

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

i did some calculations wrong.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

is the question word for word?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

and the answer is 60k huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry this was taking longer than i expected I got school tomorrow and its pretty late. If you do solve it can you just post what you did and I can get back to you tomorrow?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

okay sounds good. Let me know how you solved it when you get a chance.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you for trying to help!

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

wait onre more thing

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

so its 10 per 100k cartridges or 10 per cartridge

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

if it's 10 per cartridge then my #'s are off my a lot
