Double Check My Work (Review)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write the standard form of the equation of each line given the slope and y-intercept. \[Slope = -\frac{ 3 }{ 5 }, y-intercept = 5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got: \[y = -\frac{ 3 }{ 5 }x + 5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Write the standard form of the equation of each line given the slope and y-intercept. \[Slope = 9, y-intercept = 4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got: \[y = 9x + 4\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

correct?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Doesn't the leading coefficient have to be an integer? Maybe I don't recall that just right. Maybe there is variation by author.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

BTW, that y=9x+4 which you wrote, before? That's slope-intercept form, NOT Standard Form. Well, is (3/2)x - y = -5 Standard Form or is it 3x - 2y = -10? This is what I usually see... Ax + By = C where, if at all possible, A, B, and C are integers, and A is non-negative, and, A, B, and C have no common factors other than 1.
