HOW TO PROVE THAT A FUNCTION DOES NOTHAVE A SOLUTION WITHIN AN INTERVAL

Imagine this situation.....we are nt given graph of that function and it can also be a function which takes a sharp turn somewhere...like just started increasing...thn....ur statement is invalid

in case of sinx (pi/2 to 5*pi/2).......both f(a)=f(b) and +ve and still it has a roots

I am sorry if i have offended you...the thing is the proof i shld submit shld be solid hard ...U do get that there would be a function whose f(a) and f(b) are positive nd still it has a root like a parabola facing upwards(-2,2)
