one is a monosaccharide (e.g. glucose) polymer, the other an amino acid polymer.

Proteins are composed of Carbon,Hydrogen,Oxygen,Nitrogen and rarely Sulphur too can be seen.(eg:-Methionine and Cystein) They are ploymers with amino acids and macro molecules with high molecular weight. Complex carbohydrates are polysaccharides which are derive from Carbohydrates based on the chemical structure.
