Let u = <5, 6>, v = <-2, -6>. Find -2u + 5v.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's like distributing to parenthesis :) \[u=<5,6>\]\[v=<-2,-6>\] \[\large-2u+5v\]\[(\large-2\color{red}{<5,6>})+~(5\color{blue}{<-2,-6>})\]so you literally just distribute the 2 to the 5 & 6 and the 5 to the -2 & -6:\[\large<-10,-12>+<-10+-12>\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait that's wrong..the distribution, fix it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[<−10,−12>+<−10,−30>\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it be -20,-42??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then you just add:\[<-20,-42>\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont forget the brackets! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WOOO thank you :) do u mind helping me with another?!
