I need help with Trigonometry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need it explained step by step

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Ask Away!, :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\tan 4 \theta + \tan 2 \theta/ 1-\tan 4\theta \tan 2 \theta\]

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

There is this identity that states this... tan(A+B) = (tanA + tanB)/(1-tanA.tanB) Can you get your answer from the identity above?? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to Rewrite the expression as a trigonometric function of a single angle measure.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Exactly! Do it like identity tells you. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you do just add them together?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im new to this trig stuff...book doesnt help much at all

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Yes. Your answer equals tan(4 theta + 2 thta) = tan(6 theta) We don't JUST add them up. We follow the identities. LEARN THE TRIGONOMETRIC IDENTITIES!! :D Understood this? Check out some Internet links.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

You just have to learn these identities and apply them in your calcs.. http://www.sosmath.com/trig/Trig5/trig5/trig5.html Check out some Utube/KhanAcademy vids. :)
