Need help solving it not just the answer please! A rectangle trapezoid will be enlarged by a factor of 4. If the original area of the trapezoid is 15ft² , which will be its new area?
Enlarging dimensions by a certain factor will impact the area in that factor squared (because are is two dimensions). If it was a body, then its volume would be impacted by the bactor to the 3rd power. (three dimensions). Now tell me the solution
I have assumed you apply the same factor to all dimensions
I don't get it, do I need to multiply the 15 with the 4?
I will give you an example. Imagine you have a square 1 foot each side. What is the area?
4
one foot each side, the area is 1 foot times 1 foot, say one square foot, right?
ok
now enlarge each side by 4. Now you have a square 4 feet each side. What is the new area?
16
so, the original area has been enlarged by 4^2 that is the factor squared. This is applicable to any area. Now, if your trapezoid is 15 ft^2, what will be the new area if you enlarge each side by 4?
is it 96?
is the original area times 4^2 as I have explained, then the solution is?
240?
Exactly: 15 x 16 =240. Have you got it?
Yes I got it! Thanks you so much I'm really bad at math but thanks for helping me! :)
y r w. Maths are not especially difficult, it is just a question of practice and abstraction, good luck and dont give up!
thank you I do need more practice that's why I sign in here to see if I could get more help not just answers :)
alright, if this question is solved, then please close it and open a new post for each new quation you may have, bye!
thanks!!
