D you know your unit circle/triangles?

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

*Do

I know my unit circle I'm just having trouble remembering what to do when you are using tan. I know it would be -sqrt(2)/-sqrt(2) over -sqrt(2)/-sqrt(2) but how do simplify that or is tan totally different

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\frac{b}{b}=1\) and \(\frac{b}{-b}=-1\) it is one or the other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are in quadrant 3, both sine and cosine are negative, so it is 1

oh okay I get it! what would I do if the values weren't the same?
