The bacterium Bacillus anthracis, which causes anthrax, has been developed as a biological warfare agent. Which one of its following abilities could have led to this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am currently studying micro and I believe it's the ability for it to produce endoscopes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Endoscopes have the ability to withstand extreme conditions and when these conditions are favorable, the spores germinate and produce a thriving colony of bacteria. Most of all, Bacillus anthracis is known for its ability to produce deadly toxins. Read more at http://anthrax.emedtv.com/bacillus-anthracis/bacillus-anthracis.html

I will ask my teacher tomorrow to make sure I was on the right track :)

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

Its because of the endospores it produces. Endospores survive harsh conditions and then germinate when the environment is suitable.

My teacher gave me a long explanation today about your question. We were correct in that the bacteria's ability to produce toxic endospores is what makes anthrax so dangerous to humans :)
