Explain how to simplify 4 minus the square root of 28

OpenStudy (anonymous):

original equation: 4-sqrt(28) rewrite: 4-sqrt(4*7) seperate the roots: 4-sqrt(4)*sqrt(7) simplify: sqrt(4) = 2 so 4-2*sqrt(7) thats how i would do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 − √28 4 − √4 x 7 4 − √4 x √7 √4=2 4−2 x √7 Correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

Thank you!

not sure if its needed, but you can go one step further and factor out a 2 so it becomes 2*(2-sqrt(7))
