!!! One Medal Question !!! - What determines the primary structure of a protein?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_structure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

amino acid that make upprotein ad its sequence

OpenStudy (tanya123):

@Ryaan I got found this from ur link -> The primary structure of a protein is determined by the gene corresponding to the protein. is it right ?

OpenStudy (tanya123):

can also state two functions of proteins. if u know ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The primary structure for protein is made of amino acids, called a polypeptide. Each amino acid has an R group which is arranged in a long sequence when linked with other amino acids, to form the polypeptide aka primary structure of protein.

OpenStudy (tanya123):

isn't my answer correct ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it is :) Here are some protien functions: Proteins are essential for growth and repair. They play a crucial role in virtually all biological processes in the body. All enzymes are proteins and are vital for the body's metabolism. Muscle contraction, immune protection, and the transmission of nerve impulses are all dependent on proteins. Proteins in skin and bone provide structural support. Many hormones are proteins. Protein can also provide a source of energy. Generally the body uses carbohydrate and fat for energy but when there is excess dietary protein or inadequate dietary fat and carbohydrate, protein is used. Excess protein may also be converted to fat and stored.
